Ambitious, passionate and optimistic are three words that describe 19 year old singer-songwriter Alyssa Bart from Barrie, ON. Alyssa is no stranger to the stage with over 8 years of classical, acoustic and musical theatre performing experience. Alyssa has worked with local companies: Theatre by the Bay, Ontario Musicians Co-operative and Talk is Free Theatre. She was awarded the "Most Promising Youth" award at the 2019 Barrie Arts Awards. Alyssa's debut single "Hold On" was just recently released July 31st 2020 which can be found on all streaming platforms. With more than 16,000 views on youtube and over 2000 followers across social media platforms, Alyssa is excited to continue to grow as an independent Canadian artist.
Alyssa is a classically trained vocalist, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and actor from Barrie, Ontario. She is currently studying classical voice performance at The Don Wright Faculty of Music at The University of Western Ontario.
Alyssa has wowed audiences with her performances in productions portraying characters such as; Louisa in The Sound of Music and young Cosette in Les Miserables with the Peterborough Theatre Guild. Mrs.Cohen in RENT and Mary Sunshine in Chicago with Moving Art Centre for Performing Arts as well as Veruca Salt in Eastview Secondary’s production of Willy Wonka, to name a few.
This past year, Alyssa was honoured to accept Barrie's "Most Promising Youth" award at the 2019 Barrie Arts Awards. Alyssa is a lover of all things local and loves giving back to the community. She continues to work with local artists, producers and has worked closely with local performing arts companies such as Theatre by the Bay in their production of The Cenotaph Project, and is now in her second year as an Emerging Artist with the Ontario Musicians Cooperative. Alyssa worked closely with Barrie's very own Edwina Douglas completing classical theory and performance exams with the Royal Conservatory of Music. Additionally, she competed in the Barrie Music Festival moving on to the coveted Junior and Senior Rosebowl competitions. Alyssa’s outstanding performance qualified her to represent Barrie at the provincial level for both classical and musical theatre.
Alyssa plays in the downtown area throughout the summer. She always draws in crowds playing classic favourites for everyone to enjoy. In 2019 she was apart of the Ontario Musicians Cooperative Showcase tour on stages in Penetanguishene, Wasaga Beach and Barrie.
Alyssa released her debut single "Hold On" July 31st 2020. She hands this song over to her listeners as a gift. A gift to escape from reality and reminisce on the beautiful memories of the past. Her folky sound flows with beautifully layered vocals and crisp acoustic guitar. Alyssa's sound is influenced by artists such as Kacey Musgraves, Catie Turner, The Paper Kites, dodie and Lizzy Mcalpine.
This is just the beginning for artist Alyssa Bart. She is continuing to set herself up for a career full of heartfelt music. Her goal is to always tell stories through her music. She looks forward to continuing to grow as an independent Canadian artist.
